Open Source for Big Data and Visualisation

Gothenburg

Visualisation brings enormous power. We humans are pattern-seeking animals and we are adept at finding patterns, visually and auiditory. Great visualisations is therefore a must for truly gaining insights and spreading knowledge in your organisation, when working with large and complex data.

The development during the last couple of years, especially for open source libraries, has been amazing and there are now open solutions enabling entirely new possibilities to visualise and analyse information.

During this seminar, we will inspire you to create new powerful visualisations and graphics driven by your data analysis. Our experts on visual design will share the basics on communicating graphically and we will show the pros and cons of several open source visualisation tools. There is great inspiration from the game industry where frameworks such as OpenGL and WebGL are used for computationally heavy visualisations, and there are great open source libraries built on top of them. We will demonstrate how to get started and utilize the full power of your GPU.

Visualisation is central when working with geographical data and often used for data driven decision making. Showing big and complex datasets can be tricky as it can be hard for us to comprehend, but with techniques such as dimensionality reduction and fast aggregations we can make it happen. With examples from Findwise LABs and sharp customer projects, we will give you deeper insights into visualisation for data science.

This seminar is a part of GBGTECHWEEK and will be hold in English.
There will be some food and refreshments after the seminar with time to mingle with like-minded people and experts.

Seeing is believing.
Hope to see you there!
