Document Summarization - Algorithm Comparison

Document summarization is all about gathering information from documents to generate a summary that is both accurate and easy to understand. It can involve a single document or several documents with the same topic. This lab sample works by extracting the most relevant sentences from a text and returning them in the order they originally appeared. As we do not re-write any text, we call it an extractive summarization system.

To test the demo, you can for example copy the text from "Business value" below into the text field and press "Summarize".

Business value

A common use case for this lab sample is within Enterprise Search and especially when it comes to result presentation. Typically, a snippet is presented for each search result and quality varies. They may include static information, no full sentences or strange characters. With document summarization, users get an up to date summary and they can easily understand what the document is about.
