Determining expertise from indirect evidence

In most organizations, it’s vital to quickly find people with a specific skill set – an expert of some sort. That’s why many organizations offer employees an application for people search. So far so good but unfortunately, most people aren’t great at updating their profiles, which means information is often missing and specifically information about experience and skills. Hence, you can’t find the right person.

However, this lab sample is about connecting people to any information within the company that may reveal their expertise – an automatic expert finder. Our goal is to discover the best way to design and build such a system and also comparing it to systems relying on manually provided information.
